We just added Silver Fox Rabbits to our little farm.
They are a heritage breed.
Good for meat and pets.
They are known to have big litters so they are a excellent breed to add to your farm.
They are considered rare.
The kits (babies ) are black but as they age the silver tips begin to develop.
They are rare, and considered threatened but there are still many interested in the breed and working with it to develop it further.
Black is the only recognized breed . Other colors are in the works of development. Blue was in the breed but worked out - now it sounds like this is being worked back in.
The fur is unique in that it stands straight up. It stands approx 1 1/2 inches tall.
It is the 2nd oldest breed to be developed in America.
